No complaints about 5ne surgery apart from difficulty in getting an appointment

Tried several times today to make an appointment, pressed the correct option, however no-one is answering the phone. Very frustrating

1. If I want to arrange an appointment in less that 2 weeks, I have very little hope of seeing the same doctor twice. Also, it's not everyone who can wait outside the surgery at 8am to get an appointment on the same day, and calling on the phone is a frustrating business that often results in all of the appointments being filled before you can get through. It would be welcome if you could book in advance for an appointment within the week. 2. Receptionists vary in their manner. I am always courteous, but sometimes feel that I am being looked down upon or treated in an offhand manner. For example, I had to return a blood pressure monitor to the surgery, and was told to return it at 4pm on Thursday afternoon. However, when I turned up, the surgery was closed for staff training. I understand that mistakes happen, and that this was probably a simple miscommunication. When I made the trip again on the Friday to return the monitor, and mentioned my abortive trip the previous day, no acknowledgement was made of the fact that I had been inconvenienced. It wasn't the receptionist's fault that I had been told to turn up when the surgery was closed, but I would expect them, as the customer-facing figure of the practice, to acknowledge that a miscommunication had occurred. Not all receptionists behave like this, but this one, at least, needs some training in basic manners and customer interaction.

Although this comment doesn't relate to my recent visit I would like to suggest that if appointments are given for 8.30am, the surgery opens slightly earlier-5 mins would be enough. I have had the unpleasant experience arriving in time for my appointment as requested, only to find that I have had to wait outside in the cold and rain with a number of others. These are not ideal conditions if one is already feeling ill.
